Scholarships Eligibility

  • Students must first be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program at Leiden University. T
  • hey must also not be members of LSV Minerva and their application is for an exceptional or prestigious study or research project in the Netherlands or abroad. 
  • Projects must fall into one of the following categories: internship, study, or research. After the end of the project, students should submit their project report with related images within three months.

Accepted language documents:

  • For admission to Dutch-taught bachelor’s programs you must be proficient in Dutch and, in most cases, in English.
  • For admission to English-taught bachelor’s programs, you must be proficient in English. (TOEFL or IELTS)
  • Some bachelor’s programs also require proficiency in other languages. Refer to the program descriptions for details.

Please note that English language test results may not be more than two years old.

How to Apply

Students must first register at Leiden University and then they will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

If you are interested in receiving a degree from Leiden University, you can apply for the Leiden University International Scholarship. But before starting the application process, you must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s program at Leiden University.
The scholarship application process is done online through the website.

After downloading the form, fill out the application form completely.
Email your request to the address provided in the form. Then fill out this form as well. The committee reviews applications based on specific criteria. 

One month before the deadline, applicants will be notified whether their application has been successful or whether they will receive a scholarship. Applicants are responsible for completing the application along with the documents; Minerva or Leiden University are not responsible for incomplete or late application submissions.

Selection process

The allocation committee (consisting of Leiden lecturers from various disciples) will evaluate all applications on the basis of predetermined criteria. During the evaluation process, attention is given to the relevance of the research and how it will contribute to the advancement of academic knowledge.

You will be informed (max.) one month after the application deadline whether you have been awarded a scholarship.
